My research areas are defined by the intersection of feminisms and technical communication. Feminist Technical Communication explores just that intersection and many of the sites of confluence—healthcare, risk, environmental rhetorics—for these two disciplines. This book builds upon my 2013 dissertation “Theorizing an Apparent Feminism in Technical Communication,” which won the Conference on College Composition and Communication Outstanding Dissertation Award in Technical Communication. My work has appeared in Computers and Composition, Journal of Business and Technical Communication, Technical Communication Quarterly, Programmatic Perspectives, and Peitho: Journal of the Coalition of Feminist Scholars in the History of Rhetoric & Composition. (My older publications can be found under the surname Frost.) The same theoretical commitments that inform my research also guide my teaching; I hope my students describe me as fair, collaborative, curious, and open-minded.

A new school year begins …

ISU is now actually in the third week of a new academic year, so this post is a little late. (Better late than never!) My main project so far this semester has been the ISU Writing Program’s new website. It’s online and functional at ISUwriting.com. In addition, I’m working on streamlining the digital space on the Department of English homepage. For now, there is just a filler page up. I’ll be working on this for much of this week, and suggestions are welcome!

  • Auditing a classical rhetoric course

I’m also tutoring at Heartland’s Lincoln Center and teaching online for Arizona State. Busy semester! 🙂
